1. Create a DMARC Record:
- A DMARC record is a TXT record in the DNS. The record outlines the DMARC policy for the domain.
- We recommend having the minimum DMARC record configuration as below:
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com
- Components:
- `v=DMARC1`: The version of DMARC.
- `p=none`: The policy (can be `none`, `quarantine`, or `reject`).
- `rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com`: Reporting address for aggregate reports. This email need to be set up by the client and no domain will be provided by Cendyn CRM / PUSHTech.
2. Optional, Choose the DMARC Policy:
- `p=none`: Monitoring mode, no action taken on emails.
- `p=quarantine`: Emails that fail DMARC are placed in quarantine (spam folder).
- `p=reject`: Emails that fail DMARC are rejected.
3. Optional, Publish the DMARC Record in the DNS:
- Access your DNS management console.
- Create a new TXT record.
- The host name should be `_dmarc`, so the full DNS record name will be `_dmarc.yourdomain.com`.
- Paste the DMARC record in the value field.
- Save the changes.
4. Optional, Monitor and Analyze DMARC Reports:
- Regularly check the reports sent to the specified email address.
- Analyze the reports to understand the performance and adjust the DMARC policy as needed.
5. Optional, Adjust the Policy Gradually:
- Start with a policy of `p=none` to monitor how your emails are performing without affecting their delivery.
- Gradually move to `p=quarantine` and then to `p=reject` as you become confident in the SPF and DKIM setup.
