From the main navigation bar, select Audience & Contacts then Segmentation.
Step 1: On the right-hand side of your screen, click the create a new segmentation button in pink.
Step 2: Type in a name for your segment
You will see your total segmentation audience highlighted in blue to the right side, and to the left the total number of SMS, EMAIL, and PUSH enabled audience members or contacts. Note: it is normal for the email enabled number to be smaller than the segmentation audience.
Step 3: Start Adding Filters. Click the blue button + New Filter. It will open your first filter row.
Each filter row begins with a category.
Choose a category from the drop-down. For example Contact info.
Each time you select a category or detail (contact info –> country) the next detail will appear.
In this example, I typed in the country I want to filter by.
For simple segments, such as Language or Country or Repeat Guests, you will only use 1 filter line.
To add additional filters continue:
Step 4: Add a second filter: (repeat Step 3) Click + New Filter
Adding a filter means that everyone in this segment must meet the first PLUS second filter. To continue the Spain example, for residents in Spain who speak German.
Step 4.1: Offer an alternative to your first filter. Click the small + OR grey button on the end of your first filter row.
Offering an alternative, OR means in this example: all contacts who live in Spain PLUS all contacts who live in Portugal.
Once you have added all of the relevant filters to create your segment. (e.g. Women who speak Spanish. Returning Clients who have opened a campaign in the last 30 days.)
Step 5: Click Save Segmentation in the upper right-hand corner.
